Who We Are

The Bigfork Roofing Company Neighbors Call Twice

Roof Repair Smedway didn't start as a franchise looking for a market to plant a sign in. Our crews trained on real tear-offs, real ridge vents, and real attic inspections in Bigfork, MT before we ever put a truck on the road under this name.

We carry full liability coverage and workers' compensation, and every lead installer holds current state licensing, so a claim adjuster, a home inspector, or your own insurance carrier can verify our credentials without a single awkward phone call.

A patched flashing that leaks again in eighteen months costs a homeowner more than the first repair ever saved. That's why our Roof Repair crews follow manufacturer specs on every nail pattern and every underlayment overlap, not just the visible parts.

Problem Signs

Five Signs Your Bigfork Roof Is Already Telling You Something

By the time water is visibly dripping into a room, the damage underneath the surface has usually been developing for a while.

Shingle Grit Washing Off

If your downspout discharge looks like sand, the UV-protective coating on your shingles is breaking down faster than it should.

Shingles Lifting At The Edges

Shingle edges that curl upward have usually lost flexibility, which makes them far more likely to crack or blow off in the next storm.

Light Visible Through Roof Boards

Small gaps that let light in will let water in during the next heavy rain.

Ceiling Stains Or Sagging

Ceiling stains tend to grow slowly, which is exactly why they're often ignored until the damage spreads.

Inconsistent Indoor Temps

Poor roof ventilation or compromised insulation from a slow leak can quietly push cooling costs up month over month.

Bare Patches On The Roofline

Even one missing shingle can let enough water through to rot the decking underneath within a single storm season.

Our Core Services

Five Ways Roof Repair Smedway Keeps Bigfork Roofs Watertight

We break our work into distinct service lanes because a wind-lifted ridge cap and a full tear-off need completely different crews, materials, and timelines.

Emergency

Emergency Roof Repair

Emergency dispatch covers downed limbs through the roof deck, storm-torn flashing, and wind-lifted shingle sections that need immediate coverage.

Residential

Homeowner Roof Solutions

Residential work covers shingle repair, full re-roofs, ridge and soffit ventilation upgrades, and skylight flashing — whatever the house actually needs.

Commercial

Commercial Roofing Services

Commercial roofs carry different loads and different membrane systems than residential shingles, and our crews are trained on TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen accordingly.

Replacement

New Roof Installation

A full tear-off strips the roof down to the decking, replaces damaged boards, and installs a new underlayment and shingle system built to current code.

Inspection

Annual Roof Tune-Ups

Post-storm inspections give homeowners a documented record for insurance purposes, whether or not a claim is ultimately filed.

Specialized

Custom Roofing Fixes

If a roof has an unusual pitch, an older material system, or a custom architectural feature, our senior crews handle the scoping personally.

FAQ

What Bigfork Homeowners Ask Us Most

How fast can a Roof Repair technician arrive in Bigfork, MT?+
Arrival time depends on the issue's urgency — active water intrusion jumps the queue, while routine inspections are scheduled around your availability.
Do you provide upfront pricing?+
Yes — every job gets a written, itemized estimate before work begins, and that's the number you're billed unless the scope changes with your approval.
What emergency services are available?+
Emergency tarping for storm-damaged sections, active leak mitigation, and temporary flashing repairs are all available on the on-call line.
Are you licensed and insured in Bigfork, MT?+
Yes, every lead technician holds current state licensing and we carry full liability and workers' comp coverage, with documentation available on request.
Do you work with my homeowners insurance?+
We document storm damage with adjuster-ready photos and itemized estimates that most carriers accept directly for claims.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?+
We look at shingle age, granule loss, and decking condition together — isolated damage on an otherwise healthy roof usually means repair, not replacement.
What roofing materials do you install?+
Material choice depends on your roof's pitch, your budget, and your climate exposure — we'll lay out the realistic options during the estimate.
Do you offer a warranty on completed work?+
Yes, every job includes a workmanship warranty separate from the manufacturer's material warranty, with documentation provided at completion.
How much does a typical roof repair cost?+
We'll never give a binding quote sight-unseen — but the written estimate after inspection is the number you can count on.
Can you inspect my roof before I file an insurance claim?+
A documented inspection ahead of your claim call often speeds up the entire adjuster process.
Do you offer financing for larger roofing projects?+
We can walk through financing alongside the written estimate for larger jobs like a full tear-off and reroof.
How long does a full roof replacement take?+
Most residential tear-offs and reroofs take one to three days depending on roof size, pitch, and weather conditions.

Trusted Roof Repair service in Bigfork, MT - Roof Repair Smedway
Some say the name "Bigfork" is derived from the Salish name for the area. However, Bigfork is a fork where two rivers, the Flathead River and the Swan River, flow in to the Flathead Lake. There are reports of a homestead and orchard immediately north of Bigfork as early as 1885. Everit L. Sliter set out 500 apple, cherry, plum, and pear trees in 1892 on Flathead Lake's east shore. He became the first postmaster in 1901. In 1902, he platted the Bigfork townsite at the mouth of the Swan River. The east shore has since become a major cherry-growing area. Wayfarers State Park lies just south of the community.
